OverView- Calciapex, is one component Radioopaque, water soluble calcium hydroxide gel With lodoform for direct, indirect pulp sealing and temporary root canal filling.
- It is composed of a blend of calcium ions mainly: calcium hydroxide with lodoform in a high alkaline PH.
- Calciapex is help fully gainst decay and may promote deposition of secondary dentine.
- It is especially effective in cases infected canals.
- Restoration: Prepare cavity as usual.
- The cavity must be kept dry.
- Attach tip applicator into the syringe.
- Apply a very thin layer to the pulpal wall of the cavity or to the exposure site.
- Apply filling material as glass ionomer, composite or temporary filling.
- Endodontic: Temporary intro-canal medication.
- Prepare root canals usual
Working area must be kept dry
- Use syringe tip to slowly intrude the gel into the canal and slowly draw the plunger while introducing the gel.
- Avoid extrusion beyond the apex.
- Some clinicians make further intrusion of the gel with File or plugger.
